2009 Goals Revisited

2009 Goals

1. GET TO GOAL! (serious - no joking this year!) Well it's still possible IF I lose 2 lbs a week. So I'm not giving up on this yet!
2. Run 6 5k's (approximately one every other month) (Done 1, 5 to go) Still have only done one but I can still accomplish this if I do the following 5Ks and starting training NOW.

1. Cypress 5K - July 25
2. Superfair 5K - August 9
3. Kevin Cook Spirit Run - September 5
4. MPS 5k run - October 17
5. Hip Hop Classic 5k run - November 14

3. Run a 10K this year. There is one November 1st that I want to do so still doable.
4. Exercise 4x's a week. Um, hasn't been occuring. :sigh:
5. Scrapbook at least once a month. Hasn't been occuring either. So let's change this to scrapbook 12 times between now and the end of the year!
6. Plan meals every week. Was doing really well with this in the beginning of the year. Need to get back to it NOW.
7. JOURNAL JOURNAL JOURNAL Need to get better at this!
8. No more diet soda - it's expensive (I can save money) and not great for you. Ha, let me just get rid of this one. I tried to eliminate and that was just a joke. But I will REDUCE the amount I drink.
9. Use my crockpot at least once a month. (Used in Jan.) Used once so far. Will try and use every month until the end of the year.
10. Watch less TV. I think I've accomplished this. I've gotten rid of at least three of my season passes and have not added any new shows. =)
11. Organize my home. (one room each month will take me 9 months so I may take two months on like the kitchen which is bigger). Laundry Room DONE Well, this was a thought before I lost my RDOs. Now I have no free time without the kids really so I am going to scrap this goal. I will still work on it but there is no way I can do this by the end of the year.
12. Read 12 books this year (one a month). DONE!!!
Dancing in the Dark by Mary Jane Clark
Double Tap by Steve Martini
Suze Orman's 2009 Action Plan
Crime Scene at Cardwell Ranch
Multiple Blessing
Hide in Plain Sight by Marta Perry
Stranded with a Spy by Merline Lovelace
Handle With Care by Jodi Picoult
My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Picoult
Two to Six (don't suggest reading - got it as a review book which is why I read it)
I Am Inspired by Valerie Allen
Wrongsized by Larry Soloman
The Noticer by Andy Andrews (currently reading)

WEIGHT LOSS MARKS for 2009: Let's just give up for now until I can get back into this. :sigh:

Day One

Woo Hoo!! I have one day under my belt. YIPPEE!!! And I even ran last night. I'm starting over with the c25k thing but it's ok. I'm ready and raring to go! I stopped in the snack bar this morning for milk for cereal for breakfast and I wasn't even tempted to get my usual donut! I can tell I'm in a much better mindset right than I have been the beginning of this year. Better late than never right?? So this week is my new start. I'm starting at 180 lbs and I need to lose 50 lbs to get down to 130. I can do it. If I lost 2 lbs every week I could even do it by the end of 2009. Will I? Probably not but I am going to shoot for it. =) I am going to re-look at my goals today and tweak them a little since the year is half over. I can still get to a lot of my goals if I try. The first 6 months of this year were not stellar but I CAN make the next six months better!!!

I'm Back!

I"M BACK!!!! And ready to kick some BOOTAY!!! Or get some fat off, or whatever you want to say. LOL! It was HOT this weekend and I was in tank tops. And I did not entirely like what I saw. It wasn't too bad but it wasn't great either. I also saw a picture of me that we took at the wedding last weekend. Dh told me how "hot" I looked that day but when I saw the picture all I saw was a large butt and legs. Eeks! So it's time to stop saying tomorrow. It's time to START saying right now.

I am going to revisit my goals for the year. I can't believe this year is half over! YIKES! Where did the time go??? Not sure if I'll be able to accomplish it all but I can still try. There are still 6 months left this year!!!

Book Review - Wrongsized

I read Wrongsized and could not stop laughing! This book was definitely a funny read. The author found a humorous way to lighten up the job situation as it is now for a lot of people - unemployed and trying to find a new job. He found a way to make you laugh and yet at the end, he gives great tips for those that are out of work to try something new and/or ask themselves questions to determine a path to potentially look for work in maybe something you didn’t initially think of. Some of the jobs he tries are ridiculously funny and the ways he gets “fired” from them are even funnier. This book would be a great read if you could read it all the way through the first time you read it. I read it in chunks and it lost some of what I had laughed at initially by coming back to it. I think I would have laughed hysterically throughout the whole thing had I read it straight through. It’s a short book, not hard to read at all. I definitely recommend it to those that are unemployed and looking and even those that are employed. It’s just an all around funny read!

Book Review - I Am Inspired

I received “I am Inspired” as a review copy to read. It’s a very short book – 13 pages. I would call it more of a short story about the beginning of the author’s hardest part of her life, when she found out she was pregnant with her second son out of wedlock. She is planning on doing a whole “I am Inspired” series. This book “The Beginning” really drew me in and left me wanting to read more about what occurred after she found out she was pregnant and came to terms with it. I would suggest, when the author is done with the whole series, to make one large compilation book so people can read the whole story. Without reading anymore of the story, it does seem as if this would be a good book for those that find themselves in the same situation to read. Maybe something she says in here – her reflections on God and on her faith – can help someone else to make a decision and see that they are not alone.

Baby Steps

This week I'm focusing on NOT going out to eat lunch. I'm eating what I bring. So far this week, I'm two for two. =) Tomorrow I am off as the twins daycare is closed so I will be home with all three kids. My friend is coming over with her three kids so our kids can finally meet and play. Her daughter is 6 months younger than Connor and her twins are 3 days older than mine. Should be lots of fun! I hope the weather cooperates!! And maybe I can get a walk in around the block with the kiddos tomorrow.

No really

I'm "almost" there. Really I am. I'm feeling better. I'm hoping I don't get sick anymore. :sigh: I really need to get back into exercise and into eating right. It's just so hard when I'm so busy at work and stressed with the kids. Food makes me feel better. Well you know what, that's not even it. When I'm stressed I just want to GRAB something. It's easier to grab a donut that it is to dish out the yogurt with the fruit with the rice cakes. It makes my life EASIER. Just like eating out for dinner. It's easier to go grab something through the drive thru than it is to make dinner. Although if you think about it, it's about the same amount of time. By the time I get in my car, drive the drive thru (depending on which place I go), order, pay, pick it up and then get home, It's almost 20 mins. If I whip up a quick 15 min meal, I would have been eating by then. :sigh: But that's not EASY. And right now, I need EASY.
