This was the third run in my quadruple crown series races. Very small run. Flat course though so that was ok. I could see doing a better time next year if I decide to do this one again. Beautiful neighborhood that you run through. I liked that it was small enough that parking was not an issue and I didn’t have to get there at the butt crack of dawn. But it was still large enough that I didn’t feel like I was the last one coming in. It also helped that this was a 5k/10k so some people that were behind me were finishing up their 10k. Of course the 10k winner beat my 5k time. Haha.

WetnWild 5K – June 16, 2012
This was the FUNNEST 5k I have ever done!! It’s not called the WETnwild 5k for nothing. This event was held at Knott’s Berry Farm/Soak City. It was a very cool race course since we got to run throughout all of Knott’s Berry Farm. The only problem was it was narrow. And there were a lot of people. So there were a couple times that I literally had to stop to make a turn because there were too many people and it was too crowded. But at the end, we got to run through Soak City and ran through the lazy river. It was a very cool experience! It also helped to cool me down after running the first part of the race. LOL! I went in shoes and all. Totally cool I tell you. ;) Of course, since we were “running” through water my time obviously suffered but it was good. I would totally do this again.

Anaheim 5K – June 9, 2012
I signed up for the Anaheim 5k as part of the quadruple crown race series (we are signed up for 4 races and get a medal at the end of the fourth race!). I did not get a medal for this race but there were quite a few goodies to pick up after the race. I liked this race. It wasn’t too large and the course was FLAT. That was good. Easy in and easy out for parking as well. My stats:

OC 5K – May 6, 2012
I did the OC 5k at the Orange County Fairgrounds on May 6, 2012. It just happened to be my birthday as well as my 2nd 5k of the year. Unfortunately, it ended up NOT being a true 5k. It was only 2.68 miles per my Garmin. Apprantly, they forgot to open up part of the course (the part that was supposed to take us through the ampitheater) and so it shorted the race. A LOT! I was like, there is NO way I finished in under 34 minutes without having trained. Oh well. Lesson learned. Always wear my garmin and make sure the route is correct! As compensation, we are getting a free entry into next years 5k. So I know what I’m doing on May 5, 2013. Haha! Here are my stats (for what it’s worth):

La Habra 5K
Wow. I do need to get in here and update more but wanted to write a post about my 1st 5k of the year. 1st of many more to come. :) I have actually signed up for 6 so far. And may sign up for more. :) The whole family came out to cheer me on. And Connor even did the 1K for the kids. So proud of him! Next time I have to remember to time him though so we can see how he progresses.
So for the most part, this was a pretty well organized and very cool 5k. I have to say though, I never realized how hilly La Habra was! I guess if I actually read the course description and it says semi challenging, that should be a clue. LOL! We actually started off right in the beginning with a hill. Ugh. But at least it got me thinking, there will be more hills in this race and I was prepared for them. Going downhill was awesome. :) I think my Garmin was registering a 9:30 mile at one point when I was going downhill!! I was so glad I was wearing my Garmin. It was awesome to know how far i had run and what pace I was running. I did walk a lot in this race but I attribute that to not running in a couple a weeks and also to the hills. So killer! But I had fun. I actually had a thought about 1/2 way through to call up my husband to come pick me up but of course - I did not. =D My overall time was 37:17. I was a little dissapointed until I came in here and check my other 5k times. That is my best so far!! I hadn't realized I had been in the 40 mins and then 38 mins. Wow!! I am very proud of myself! My next 5k will either be 5/6 or I may sign up for another one on 4/22. Have not decided yet but I know i need to decide soon! Now to keep training so I can get faster and run longer.

Exercise
So this week marked 6 weeks of going to the gym. :) New record since last year I stopped after 5 weeks. Of course, wouldn't you know it - I get a dang stupid cold. :( I still went Monday and Wednesday but took Tuesday and Thursday off. I was going to go today (it's day three of the c25k this week) but I felt like I was almost over it and I didn't want to go outside in the freezing cold weather! (Yes, 40 is freezing to me. Yes I live in CA). This has not bode well for this week since I had lunch plans both Tuesday and Thursday. But I have still managed to keep it under my calorie limit for my days. :) I even didn't let dh talk me into eating out on Wednesday. ;) YEAH!!!
Next week I WILL be back at the gym. I will also get in my c25k Week 6 Day 3 either Saturday or Sunday. Monday is a holidy so no work for me but I will get in c25k Week 7 Day 1. And then Tuesday, my friend Mandie and I are starting Jamie Eason's LiveFit Trainer. I just hope I don't look stupid doing these exercises at the gym. LOL! But I'm serious and ready to do this!!
Next week I WILL be back at the gym. I will also get in my c25k Week 6 Day 3 either Saturday or Sunday. Monday is a holidy so no work for me but I will get in c25k Week 7 Day 1. Weigh In - Week Five
Yes I skipped Week Four. Why? Well I weighed myself on Tuesday. It said I was still 182. Ok whatever. So guess what I did on Wednesday? Yup, you guessed it. I got on the scale and it said . . 180!! Yeah. I hit my end of January goal. :) So guess what I decided to do? Yep, you guessed it again - I'm changing my WI days to Wednesday. LOL!
So, I weighed in today and . . . 180.2. I'm up 0.2 lbs. Whatever. It's basically a maintain in my eyes. Especially since I went over my calories last weekend and yesterday at work was HORRIBLE. Someone brought in cupcakes. And they were YUMMY! I didn't eat 1. Oh I didn't eat 2. No I ate THREE!! That was almost 1000 calories. But they were oh so yummy. So I can't complain.
I'm getting back my exercise groove. I even did Turbo Jam Monday night with the kids. :) They keep begging to do it again. Although Connor likes doing Jillian Michael's The Shred because of the push ups. LOL! I said we might do that tonight. Well my next goal is 170 lbs in 6 weeks. I can do this!

Weigh In - Week Three (Repeat)
Ok. So I just had to weigh myself again this morning. I know the waking up later than normal last week sue to the holiday, screwed up my weigh in. So I weighed this morning:
Weigh In: 182.0
That's 3.4 lbs down from yesterday. YESTERDAY. Can you say what is wrong with this picture?? That would be 2 lbs down from a week ago. That's more like it. So I'm changing my weigh in day. I will weigh in on Tuesday's now. That way, if there is a holiday or I take a Monday off, I'm not worried about skewing my results. Most Tuesday's I'm at work and can weigh myself at the same time every week. :) So there you have it. Woo Hoo!!!

Weigh In - Week Three
Weight: 185.4
That's UP 1.4 lbs from last week. :( But again, I weighed in later last week. Ugh. I need to start weighing in at the same time. So if I wake up late on Monday (because I'm off work etc), just weigh in on Tuesday. That's how it has to be. I weighed myself last night and I was at 184.4. So I gained a lb overnight?? I don't think so. I know I could have done better this weekend. Darn camping. And we went camping with new people so I didn't want to say no when they offered me a drink or food because I didn't want to seem stuck up. Know what I mean? Oh well. This is a lifestyle change so I know those types of weekend are going to happen. And you know what - that;s OK! But I have to keep telling myself that. :sigh: Doesn't help it's cold and rainy today. All I want to do is munch. I was able to get around it this morning by burying myself in work. Let's hope I can continue that this afternoon. :)

Weigh In - Week Two

Down 2.2 lbs!!!! YES!!! I so freakin' deserve that. :) Hee hee!!! I was really good last week. I made healthy choices. I still enjoyed myself but I made sure that I made good choices and those choices were able to fill me up. ;) I am VERY VERY happy!!
I did not work on today though. It is a holiday. I had planned to get up but it was just too cold and I hardly get to sleep in so you know what - I deserved that too. :) I'll make up for it on Friday when I'm off and can spend an hour at the gym :)

Plugging Along
It was so hard to go to the gym this morning. :( I woke up at 3:43 (alarm goes off at 3:45) and was so tempted to turn it off. But instead, I stretched in bed (I am SO SORE!!!) and when the alarm went off I went to the gym. Plan was to do c25k and then stairmaster for 20 mins. But I was like I am so NOT in the mood to do all that I'm JUST doing c25k. Then as I was doing c25k I got in the groove. Even did two more runs than the week called for. :) I was even up to 6 Mph on the treadmill (10 min miles which is a goal of mine to run for 3 miles straight). Then instead of just going home, I decided to do the bike instead of the starimaster for something diferent. Then I went and did two arm weight machines. Man are my arms weak!! So it ended up being SUCCESSFUL! Yeah. And I get two days off now. :)
Monday is a holiday. I want to sleep in a little but I still want to do c25k also. So I think I'll sleep in a little. Then go to c25k around my neighborhood instaed of at the gym. That way I can use my new Garmin to it's full potentional. :) Yeah!!

Weigh In - Week One

That's a 0.2 lb loss. But I'm not upset. I'm totally cool with it. As I said, last week was weird. I woke up late on Monday because 1.) I was sick the weekend before and needed sleep and 2.) it was a holiday. Plus I hadn't eaten much the last two days except maybe 500 calories each day because my stomach was just not right. So it's balanced itself off. I'm pushing this week. I'm going to see a loss this week again. I feel better! That's the most important thing I think. Anyway, onto another week!!

First Weigh In of the Year . . . Tomorrow
So that means, last chance workout tomorrow morning!!! It's a good thing I don't have to go into work tomorrow. I have training close to home (and not until 10:30 woohoo!) so I can get a little longer workout out in tomorrow. Tomorrow will be my first day back at C25K. Except the app I use changed it to Ease into 5K. LOL. So I guess it's E25K. =D Anyway, after that I will do 20 mins on the stairmaster. So that should be a good 60 min workout. Yes. Not sure how this WI is going to go. I did better than I though some days. That's why it's always better to journal. Because sometimes, it's not as bad as you think it was. But also I weighed in later in the morning than I usually do. I also weighed myself at my "normal" time the following day I was up. Oh well. It is what it is. I am taking the steps needed to get healthier and I'm just going to continue.

It's time
It's time:
I just found out I'm going to Vegas in 14 weeks. Yeah! But who's counting?? LOL. I am! Why? Beacuse I know I can lose at least 20 lbs in 14 weeks. Right?? RIGHT! I just need to journal, choose healthy snacks and meals, and EXERCISE. And I need to realize that exercise doesn't just mean cardio. I need to get some weights in there too. And you'll notice I said choose healthy meals instead of eat healthy meals. I can eat healthy but I need to train my brain to CHOOSE healthy. If I don't I choose healthy I won't eat healthy.
Well, that's the beginning. So far. And I'll start with my current weight this year as the ending of this post:
